Perry was so impressed that he even helped develop the remix
Tale
In 1980s Indiana, a group of young friends witness supernatural forces and secret government exploits. In their search for answers, the children uncover a series of extraordinary mysteries. Steve Perry, former lead singer of Journey, said the Stranger Things season 4 remix of Journey’s 80s hit Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) was done pretty much the way he originally wanted to do it in the 80s, but lacked the technology . Over several episodes, people are seen 'interrupting' someone is talking on a two-way radio or CB – that is, one person is talking/transmitting and the other person is transmitting to interrupt, and then the other person hears the interruption and stops transmitting.
Eleven: Friends Don’t Lie
This has been done several times on children’s CB radios and on radios used by the police. These radios – CB and police radios from the show’s era – don’t work that way. If you’re broadcasting and someone else is broadcasting, you won’t hear them.. Stranger Things opening titles and fonts mimic the film grain and look of the opening credits of the 1980 TV series.

Stranger Things (Title Sequence & End Credits Theme) Written & Performed by Kyle Dixon & Co. Michael Stein. Story-wise, there’s no reason for Stranger Things to take place in the 80s. But the ’80s vibe—phone calls, chain smoking, Winona Ryder—is there to hint at the inspiration for this movie, which is pretty much every ’80s supernatural movie aimed at kids.
ET, Poltergeist, stuff like that
The amazing thing is how dead she is in this tribute. It’s not just the clothes and the hair, but also the acting style, the screenwriting approach, the structure, all of which are true to their inspiration. You have young dumb kids, horny, insecure teenagers, a monster, a mysterious one with powers, bad science/government people, a conflicted investigator, a tearful mom. You could argue that this whole season is simply a pastiche of recycled elements, which I wouldn’t disagree with, but it really feels less like a copycat and more like something from that era, like the writers fell into a coma in .
1985, he woke up and started working
While it doesn’t have the high style of the Spielberg films that are the primary influence, it does have the likability. The story is consistently engaging and entertaining, the acting is excellent and the film has enough laughs and tears to satisfy.
